Kálida Sant Pau opened its doors in 2019 as a place where cancer patients and their families can find support.
Patricia Urquiola collaborated pro bono with architect Benedetta Tagliabue, who designed the building architecture, to create a welcoming and friendly environment that is unprecedented among hospital facilities.
Urquiola’s interior design aims to create a cosy and dynamic atmosphere, as it is in a domestic space. The choice of soft colours and materials for the main floors, such as wood and ceramics, give a homelike atmosphere to the general environment. The furniture selection – consisting of donations from leading furniture, lighting and tile manufacturers – introduces a more chromatic language and wants to transmit a dynamic and positive feeling to the patients.
